I WASN’T SURE WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN I JOINED SHAPE PLUS*

“In February of this year, I recognized that it was time to make a positive change to my exercise and nutrition regimens.

Never having dieted or tried to lose weight, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first joined Shape Plus. Luckily, I chose the right facility and have had great success with my trainer Ryan.

I have lost 40 lbs. since February and have gained more than I ever expected. I have been able to go on longer and higher hikes with my husband in RMNP weekly, have had a stronger immune system, and I’ve gained an enormous amount of confidence.

Ryan has played an integral part in this journey by being supportive, knowledgeable, dedicated, respectful, and he’s a great accountability partner.

I couldn’t have chosen a better personal trainer or facility and I feel so fortunate to have come across Shape Plus. The workouts are challenging and engaging and if you follow the process, it truly works!”

Thank you!

I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH GOALS THAT FELT IMPOSSIBLE BEFORE*

I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH GOALS THAT FELT IMPOSSIBLE BEFORE*

Life over the course of the past 1 1/2 years that I have been training at Shape Plus has been both challenging and amazing. I am so proud and thankful that I have been able to accomplish goals that felt impossible before.

I have traveled to new places, said goodbye to an aunt far too soon, welcomed a new niece into this world, spent holidays with loved ones, made new friends, shaved ten minutes off my previously best 10k time, survived workplace woes, swum in oceans and lakes, overcome medical hurdles, learned how to do a handstand push-up, given my trainer Ryan a run for his money, gained a whole lot of confidence, and lost over 20 lbs.

It took almost a year for me to drop below my starting weight for more than a week or two at a time (more on that, below). About half way through that year, in between sets on the leg press, I looked at Ryan with tears in my eyes and told him I didn’t think I could do it, anymore. I didn’t know how to keep going, or why I continued to try. Instead of telling me I was wrong, he told me it was okay if I didn’t believe in myself, because he believed in me enough for the both of us. He said he’d keep believing in me and I just needed to keep showing up and following the plan. So I did. And he did, too.

During this time, I received some unwanted health related news. My body was pretty out of whack, but I was in much better shape medically speaking than I would have been in if I hadn’t been working out and following my nutritional plan. As my doctor and I navigated my medical maze, I started to believe in myself again. Slowly but surely, the number on the scale finally began to change, too. As the pounds fell away and my immune system got stronger, I began to realize that I could do “it.” I could be successful, lose weight, love my body, feel proud, exude confidence, and keep going. I could, and I can, do things that feel impossible.

I am so grateful to Ryan for being a rock. He’s definitely one of my biggest cheerleaders, and somehow, he’s become one of my favorite (well-intentioned, sometimes obnoxious, always supportive) people.

If you are wondering if you should give Shape Plus a call, do it. Know that you can do things that feel impossible too, and you don’t have to do them alone. You’re worth it!

MAKE MYSELF A PRIORITY*

MAKE MYSELF A PRIORITY*

Before I started training with Shape Plus, I was not the cliché scenario where I woke up overweight one morning and couldn’t recognize myself. I actively and hopelessly watched myself lose who I was as I went through some of the most stressful years of my life. At the time I thought I was doing what was best for everyone including myself, by just surviving while I took care of the emotional and physical needs of others. What I failed to recognize was that I still needed to make myself a priority. I think a lot of people struggle with the idea of putting themselves first, but what they don’t understand is that they can make themselves a priority, even if it isn’t the priority. I finally decided that I was worth being a priority, especially to myself.

At Shape Plus I found myself, friends, family, and a home. When I first walked through the doors, I was absolutely terrified. My palms were sweating, my hands were shaking, and I wanted to throw up. I was terrified of being judged, of not knowing how to use any of the equipment, and of not knowing where this would lead. Sure, I saw all of the testimonials online, and I saw what other people were capable of, but what was I capable of? My personal trainer, Jess, was ecstatic to show me.

What I am capable of, as it turns out, is 37 pounds of weight loss and 4 dress sizes, doing sprints up the stairs at the end of the workout when I already feel like collapsing, and lunging with 135 pounds on my shoulders. I am capable of doing cardio 5 days a week even when I really don’t want to. I am capable of making healthy choices while I am with friends, and building healthy nutritional meals that keep me on track. I am capable of smiling, laughing, and loving myself. This decision to make my body better turned into a quest to make my life better, and Shape Plus was there every step of the way.

Because of Jess, my workout girls, and the entire Shape Plus family, I have learned that it’s ok to love myself, to be proud of my accomplishments, and to reach beyond my capabilities. I am forever grateful to Jess and the Shape Plus family for showing me something amazing. – Alyse H.

I USED TO DREAD GOING TO THE GYM NOW I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING OUT*

I USED TO DREAD GOING TO THE GYM NOW I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING OUT*

I finally realized that I was not getting the results I wanted on my own when I didn’t fit into my size 10 bridesmaid dress that I had ordered a few months before.

I had tried weight watchers and P90x in the past with little to no results. I lacked the motivation, consistency, and intensity to reach any of my goals on my own. I found Shape Plus personal training and met with Jess. The next day I had my first session with my personal trainer Greg. We discussed my goals, nutrition, and cardio plan. My personal trainer challenges me to lift more weight than I ever thought possible. He is always in a good mood, helpful, and motivating. No two workouts are ever the same. I used to dread going to the gym and now I actually look forward to it, most days.

The results have far surpassed my expectations. I am in better shape now then I was as a competitive swimmer in college. Since working out with Greg I have lost over 30 pounds and I have gone from running ten minute miles in a half marathon to running 8:30’s. For anyone looking to make lifelong changes to their health, I would highly recommend Shape Plus personal training.

MONTHS AGO, AFTER FINALLY DECIDING ENOUGH IS ENOUGH*

MONTHS AGO, AFTER FINALLY DECIDING ENOUGH IS ENOUGH*

Months ago, after finally deciding enough is enough, I started to lose weight. First I changed the way I ate but not the way I moved. That was the easy part. I lost 40 pounds just by eating right.

Unfortunately, I still didn’t feel better. I had spent an entire college career getting fat. Instead of gaining the “freshman 15,” I gained the college 100. That’s when I got the great idea that I was going to join a gym. It would have worked just great if I actually went to that gym. But I didn’t go often enough or consistently.

Then I decided it was time to get somebody to change the way I thought. I needed a life long change, not a quick fix.

Fortunately I can say that Jess was the right person for the job. In his own way, Jess is not just a personal trainer but someone that actually cares. Since my first workout, I could tell it was not just about the workout. Jess genuinely cares about his clients and more importantly cares about our goals. Never once have I not worked as hard as I could –and that was because of the kind of personal trainer he is. It is not whether you’re going to achieve your goals but rather when you will achieve them.

The workouts are always hard and exciting. I cannot think of a time when Jess didn’t know what to do to push me. Even when I thought there is nothing new we could possibly do, Jess would throw a new rigorous workout at me. I would come into a personal training session thinking I got this workout figured out. Well much to my muscles’ pleasant surprise I was in for a great hour of working out often with a new twist. I still remember my first lower body workout thinking, “Does he have any idea how hard it is going to be for me to drive home?” Well, it was all worth it.

I have now lost 102 lbs total with 66 lbs of it with Jess! But even more importantly, I have changed my lifestyle in a meaningful way. So in so many words- Thank you, Jess.
