Shape Plus personal training was my last resort. I had tried every diet, pill, prescription and motivational book under the sun and I was a classic case of yo-yo dieting. I probably lost 500 pounds over the span of 15 years by gaining 10 pounds and losing 10 pounds in a never-ending vicious cycle. I felt awful about myself, routinely cancelled plans with friends because I felt fat and ugly next to thinner people and truly didn’t think it would be possible to ever transform my body into something I could be proud of. Luckily, my brother recommended Shape Plus and personal trainer Jessica H.
I won’t lie – the first six weeks were the hardest six weeks of my life. I had to work so hard and I couldn’t see the results. I felt better, people told me I looked better, but I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. A thin, fit me seemed so far away. Jessica H. believed in me long before I believed in myself. When I finally started to see changes, I began to consider spending more than 10 weeks at Shape Plus. By my 10th week, I had lost 20 pounds, was wearing smaller clothes, getting compliments from people around me about how good I looked and I thought, for the first time in many years, that maybe I could actually do this.
I had weight loss of 189 pounds to 151 pounds; went from 38.5% body fat to 20% body fat, and went from a size 16 to a size 4. I went from not being able to run a half mile to entering my first half marathon. I completed the Tough Mudder Colorado (a 10-mile run/obstacle course at Beaver Creek); Metro Dash (where I took 2nd place overall in the women’s division); climbed my first 14er and two subsequent ones and recently bought a bike and rode my first 40-mile ride. There is nothing that I can’t do and it feels amazing to know that I can say “yes” to everything now – I look great, I feel great and I’m in the best shape of my life. –Sam J.
