I moved to the Denver area from Arizona after getting married. I had been training with a personal trainer there for the past 2 years and was very concerned whether I would be able to find a good trainer in the Denver area or not. After several weeks of searching for a trainer, I found Jess Hogue at Shape Plus. Immediately upon speaking with Jess, I knew that he was the trainer I had been looking for. Jess was very thorough in identifying what I was looking for in a trainer, what training style I liked and what my physique goals were. Being a professional cheerleader for a Colorado Sports Team I was already in decent shape, but I wanted a trainer who would take me to the next level in my overall physical fitness but not bulk me up. Jess did just that for me. Now I’m known as “the girl with the great abs” on my team – not bad considering I’m the oldest, too! Jess has helped me get into fantastic shape. Months ago, after finally deciding enough is enough, I started to lose weight. First I changed the way I ate but not the way I moved. That was the easy part. I lost 40 pounds just by eating right.

Unfortunately, I still didn’t feel better. I had spent an entire college carrier getting fat. Instead of gaining the “freshman 15,” I gained the college 100. That’s when I got the great idea that I was going to join a gym. It would have worked just great if I actually went to that gym. But I didn’t go often enough or consistently. 

Then I decided it was time to get somebody to change the way I thought. I needed a life long change, not a quick fix.

Fortunately I can say that Jess was the right person for the job. In his own way, Jess is not just a personal trainer but someone that actually cares. Since my first workout, I could tell it was not just about the workout. Jess genuinely cares about his clients and more importantly cares about our goals. Never once have I not worked as hard as I could –and that was because of the kind of personal trainer he is. It is not whether you’re going to achieve your goals but rather when you will achieve them.

The workouts are always hard and exciting. I cannot think of a time when Jess didn’t know what to do to push me. Even when I thought there is nothing new we could possibly do, Jess would throw a new rigorous workout at me. I would come into a personal training session thinking I got this workout figured out. Well much to my muscles’ pleasant surprise I was in for a great hour of working out often with a new twist. I still remember my first lower body workout thinking, “Does he have any idea how hard it is going to be for me to drive home?” Well, it was all worth it.

I have now lost 102 lbs total with 66 lbs of it with Jess! But even more importantly, I have changed my lifestyle in a meaningful way. So in so many words- Thank you, Jess Dan S.

The hardest decision I had was making the commitment to email Jess. I knew that once I did, there was no turning back. He called back almost immediately, and it was the best thing that ever happened! At 5 ft 3 in, I was 141 lbs. I had just moved up to a size 8 in order to be comfortable but still had "muffin top" and back fat. I was miserable. I knew what I could look like, but after 6 years of doing nothing and whining about it, I also knew that I couldn't achieve it on my own. My very first visit with Jess changed my life! He gave me a nutrition plan and I saw him twice a week. He kicked my a$# for 8 solid weeks (and counting) and I lost 15 lb! I am back down to a size 4 and maintaining at a healthy 126 lbs. "Throughout the 90's I was a competitive short track speedskater. I lived at various Olympic Training Centers, won national championships, and was never afraid of hard work. Since that time, 10 years have passed. Full-time work and full-time in school left me with all the excuses I needed to stay out of the gym. My energy levels were in the toilet, I had no strength, and got winded going up flights of stairs. I needed a life change, FAST! I knew through elite training how to get back in shape, so why could I not get myself off the couch? I needed someone there to push me and hold me accountable.

A friend recommended Jess to me. I was hesitant to call because I felt I already knew the answers. I was wrong, and had I not made that phone call I would have missed out on a life changing experience. I have worked with some of the best olympic and national coaches in the country in my past sport, and I can confidently say that Jess Hogue is right there at the top. He knows how to push you farther than you thought possible, yet still keeps his thumb on the pulse of how much is too much…a talent none of my coaches could master. I owe a debt of gratitude to Jess. "60 Days"!

In one of the hardest years of my life. My Mom was diagnosed with Cancer in November and I so I moved back to Chicago to be with her. She passed away that April but I stayed in Chicago to tie up loose ends until August. During the time that I was back in Chicago I gained about 20 lbs. I spent all my time at the hospital eating crap food and had absolutely no motivation to exercise. I moved back to Denver to start a Masters Program and although I was desperately trying to get back to a “normal life” I just couldn’t get myself motivated. School was all I could handle by myself. So since I couldn’t do it myself I decided to bring someone else into the picture. Yeah money is always a stipulation but I figured if I didn’t pay for it now I would end up paying for it later, 10-fold. So that’s when I found Jess Hogue at Shape Plus Personal Training.

I had absolutely no idea how beneficial this experience would be both physically and emotionally. People always say that in order to look good you have to feel good. I think that the opposite can also be true. After working with Jess everything just started to click for me. The intensity of our workout was exactly what I needed to realize my inner strength again. I started doing better in school and feeling like myself again. Before I new it I was just about at my goal. Working out is my therapy. I know that by treating myself and my body right I have a better mindset at school as well as socially.

Although I want to punch him in the face sometimes I cant help but thinking that this experience gave me the strength to move forward and I have Jess to thank for my sweet ass which I never stop getting compliments on, and my piece of mind. -Meg C..



Ripped in "3 1/2 months "!

I never thought I'd be that guy who writes a story about how he woke up one day, out of shape only to find a way to get back his health and younger body and mind...well I am that guy. Just like all the typical stories, after college I got busy with work and life and I started taking more time off from physical activities. Without even knowing it, little by little I was starting to put a few pounds on year after year. I don't remember where I was or what I was doing when I decided to get serious about getting into shape but I knew I couldn't make this change real unless I found someone to help keep me motivated to change my ways. I needed help in sticking to a workout and I remember I needed to find someone who knew what I was going through who honestly, wanted a change for me more that I wanted it for myself. That's when I found Jess and Shape Plus. Jess and his gym was exactly what I was looking for. He has change my life and my lifestyle and I've found a good friend too. He knew what I needed to do. He knew how I needed to change.
He knew how to guide me through what was to be one of the hardest but most fulfilling processes I've even done in my life. In a little under 12 weeks, I dropped 34 pounds and my strength is the highest I've ever known. I never thought I could be doing the things I'm doing, look as good as I feel and run miles after miles with ease. I've never been as excited and focused about working out and fitness as I am today. I still have a lot of goals to accomplish with Jess and I know I can get there with his guidance. If you trust Jess and his program, do what he wants and you put in the hard time and effort, you can change your life too.

I had been considering enlisting the assistance of a professional personal trainer for quite some time and could not find a personal trainer I felt would be able to appropriately motivate me and push outside my comfort zone. My main objective when contacting Jess at Shape Plus was to be able to meet fitness objectives for my career. In my line of work if you can’t move quickly, act decisively and endure strenuous physical challenges there can be serious consequences for everybody on your team. After emailing Jess he contacted me almost immediately. I was a bit anxious by the enthusiasm in his voice but realized that was EXACTLY what I was looking for since I procrastinated until I had only about 5 weeks preparation timeJess understood the time constraints and was confident that he could assist me in achieving my goals and he was right! Jess made time for me that very night which was quite impressive. Now, not only am I able to meet my fitness objectives in the top 85th percentile (from a completely sedentary lifestyle-Incredible!!) I am leaner, stronger and my energy level has increased tremendously-I love it!!!

I moved to Castle Rock after spending two years in Moscow, Russia. My goal when I returned to the US was to lose weight for my health. I weighed 195 pounds when I started to work out at Shape Plus Personal Training.

When I began the journey to get in shape I was using Weight Watchers for my diet and the Shape Plus Personal Trainers for my exercise routine and not seeing the results I wanted. With training at Shape Plus and changing to their diet recommendations instead of Weight Watchers the pounds started coming off.

I started working out with Jess mainly for moral support to my Fiance, who wanted to start with a personal trainer and lose some weight before the wedding. she had worked with Jess in the past, so she set up a meeting and drug me down there one day after work. I knew I could stand to lose a few of the extra inches I had accumulated around the middle, but I didn't think it was to bad. When we started personal training Jess measured my body fat at just under 30%....... I was shocked that it would be so high. This started me toward the attitude of "OK lets do this, All or Nothing". Within the first week I started seeing Results and couldn't believe it. The more we worked the more results I saw, it was AMAZING. now after just 2 months my body fat is down to 10% and looking back at my then and now pictures I can't believe how much of a change there has been. I FEEL GREAT and have no plans, or desires to go back to the old me. From the nutrition plan to the weight training, and every thing in between Shape plus covers it all, and with Jess's Extreme level of energy and enthusiasm its hard not to get excited.

I have worked with personal trainers before, but the energy level that Jess brings to the gym is unmatched. I can see that he has a genuine care for his clients, and obviously loves his job. Because of this attitude I don't think there is any personal trainer better. In my mind if you are going to pay some one to work you, they better WORK YOU, Jess does this and more. Leg days leave me stumbling, while arm days make it hard to lift my dinner, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Often when I leave Shape Plus just the simple chore of driving home is more of an adventure than you would think, but the results are more than worth it. This is why I love Jess and the Shape Plus team.

I was looking for a trainer to whip me into shape for quite some time as I had felt I tried everything else on my own and was not getting the results I wanted. I used to be a competitive swimmer for 14 years and was very used to a tone and lean body. As life progressed, I lost my tone and definition in my body and tried on my own to motivate and push myself to obtain my goals.

Once I realized, I was not getting exactly what I wanted, I decided a personal trainer would be the next move for me. I searched throughout the Internet and saw some personal trainers here and there that were ok, but then I found Shape Plus and watched the videos and read the testimonials and knew right away that Jess was my guy! Upon meeting Jess, I immediately knew that Jess was on the same page with me for reaching my personal goals. Jess is far and above the rest. Since I have been training with Jess, I have lost the “muffin top” and my body is tone again! I feel mentally and physically better all around. I heard of Shape Plus personal training from my friend Autumn who had been seeing Jess for a while. I saw the transformation he had made in her life and decided to take the plunge myself.

In September of 2009, after what I call, “the summer of Jamie”, I decided it was time to get serious about losing weight and getting myself back into good shape. As a former college athlete, I knew it was going to take hard work to get to where I wanted too physically, but, I really needed help on making the right decisions when it came to eating. I had no idea how bad I was eating until Jess took a look at the food journal I kept the week before I started my sessions. With his guidance I re-learned how to eat, forever. The most important thing to mention with this, is that it’s not a diet. It’s not trendy or extreme, it’s truly a way to eat the right things, at the right time and I will continue to eat the way Jess has taught me for the rest of my life.

I have lost a total of 15 pounds and haven’t felt this great in over 10 years. Not only do I have way more energy, but I am stronger and more confident because of what he has helped me achieve. I started training with Jess because I felt as if I was missing something in my daily workouts and my diet. I was very frustrated with my lack of results. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, or how to reach my goal of a stronger, learner, healthier body. After the first few sessions with Jess, I knew I had found my answer. I saw awesome results in strength and muscle tone and I left each training session feeling amazing. I scouted for more than 6 gyms before narrowing it down to Shape Plus personal training. "I took part in the "Ultimate Personal Training" with Jess. Immediately prior to training with Jess I weighed a whopping 217 lbs. I lost 37 lbs in three months and I gained muscle too! I went from a size 36 waist to a size 32. By the end of three months I had gotten down to 180 lbs. I gained a lot of confidence with Jess. He is knowledgeable and personable. I have been a customer since December, working with Jess Hogue. The training he has provided has been excellent. From the first day, he has adequately explained the exercises he has me do and why I am doing them. He explains what muscles will be worked on, both primary and secondary, and ensures that I know the name of the exercise. I feel the exercises he chooses are appropriate for the level I am at and as I progress, he has me increase the intensity in both weight and repetitions. As a result, I am getting stronger and losing weight. Jess is very reliable, as he shows up for our appointments on time and on the days scheduled. If needed, he is flexible in rescheduling our appointments. If I have to cancel an appointment, Jess is insistent upon schedulilng another session the same week, to assure that we meet at least twice a week. This helps keep me motivated and has taught me to be sure to schedule time to exercise. I must commend Jess on his efforts to accommodate me due to my deafness. He has learned some sign language, and uses it appropriately during our sessions. As a result, my ability to understand him during our sessions has increased immensely,and has increased my enthusiasm for our training sessions. I appreciate Jess's enthusiasm and knowlege. He motivates me and is helping me to reach my goals of losing weight and getting stronger. He is an excellent trainer. I look forward to continue working with Jess.

Hey Jess,
I know you don't favor e-mail but I had some great news for my trainer...I had to wear pants the other day for mass, (I haven't worn pants in months right) well I went through my whole closet and "none" of my pants fit!!!! Can you believe that! I dug out a pair from way in the back from 5 years ago!!! Size 8! I left all the size 13's on the floor to get rid of. I can't believe it, I really hadn't seen the difference until now. Now I can work toward that one size 6 jeans I have kept hidden away for 8 years. YAAAAA HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
